It is with mixed emotion that we celebrate the retirements of Kathy Hainley, Linda Regan, Phyllis Mann, Julie Heimburge and Terri Knight. We're so sad to see them go and can hardly imagine the school without their expertise, kindness and love, and beautiful smiles. We are thankful for the years they have devoted to our children and to Benchley-Weinberger families. It is with a heavy heart that we say happy retirement to all you fantastic ladies!
Congratulations to Room B-8, winners of the Pizza Party for most BoxTops collected. A special thanks to students and their families for collecting all those little certificates!

Brownie Troop 3602 realized that there weren't any recycling bins in the school's lunch area and decided to do something about it. They contacted both the school district and EDCO recycling and have arranged for lunch area recyclables to be commingled with the EDCO bin already on site. Alternatively, recyclables can be recycled off-site to raise money for the school.
The Brownies raised funds and received a grant from the Benchley Weinberger Foundation to cover the cost of two blue recycling bins for the lunch area. They demonstrated appropriate use of the recycle bins at the April assembly. The bins are for bottles and cans only.
You can help BW raise funds by recycling bottles and cans off-site. If you are interested in volunteering to take the recyclables, please contact Elizabeth Berg.
Parents and children brought shovels, rakes, brooms – and lemonade and bubbles of course – to help in our first "All-School Clean-Up" Day, Saturday, May 16th. View more photos»

In a major concession to parents and educators who have protested preliminary cuts to the budget, the school board last night rescinded two contentious cost-saving proposals. Read more»
