Our 2010 Jog-a-thon will be held on school grounds on February 10, 2010.

It will be the biggest and best one Benchley-Weinberger has ever had! We will be offering the BEST PRIZES EVER this year.

The students who raise the most money will have their choice of a new WII, A LAPTOP COMPUTER, A DIGITAL CAMERA OR AN IPOD!

Every student who raises $25 or more will receive a t-shirt. We have tons of great stuff to raffle off for the kids. Pizza parties for the top classes! Running shoes, gift certificates and more. However, if any parent has a connection (Padres, Charges, Zoo, Legoland, Disneyland, etc., etc.) that can lead to bigger and better prizes, please call us! We need you!

The paperwork for the event has been sent home in the red folders. Our goal is to raise $30,000.00. With all the upcoming budgets cuts anticipated we need your support now more than ever.

If you can help us solicit prizes for the kids or if you have any questions, please contact Lou Bertsche.

What is the Benchley-Weinberger Foundation?

The Foundation is a registered 501(c)3, non-profit organization, created by B-W parents. The objective of the Foundation is to fund present and future programs or projects designed to benefit the children at Benchley-Weinberger. The Foundation compliments B-W's outstanding PTA. The bylaws of the Foundation offer tremendous flexibility in the allocation of funds to programs, services and equipment that cannot be supported by the PTA fundraising activities. The PTA and the Foundation have become vital partners in sustaining the high standards of our school.

What are the Foundations activities?

2009-2010 Foundation Activities and Goals»

What has the Foundation accomplished?

During the 2007-08 school year, the Foundation raised $40,000. The Foundation has used these funds to continue and support the following programs: the music program, Panda Press Student newspaper, art program, the library and the running program. The Foundation also gave to the Kindergarten-Garden, finished purchasing the projectors for all classrooms. We also redid the grass in the Kindergarten area. Check it out.

For the 2008-09 year we would like to raise enough money to build another shade structure on the upper playground along with continuing the capital improvements, and programs at our school.

How can I help the Foundation?

The Foundation is made up entirely of parents of B-W students. They volunteer their time to support programs and activities that benefit all our children. We meet on a monthly basis at Benchley-Weinberger Elementary School.

If you are interested in becoming involved or have questions about the Foundation, please contact the school office or our current president Drew Smith at (619) 994-2311 or email dma22@cox.net. All parents are welcome and we encourage your input!
