Sponsored by the California Reading Association, the California Young Reader Medal program encourages recreational reading of popular literature. Nominated books are original works of fiction by living authors. Books are nominated in five categories:
- Primary (Grades K - 3)
- Intermediate (Grades 3 - 6)
- Middle School/junior High (Grades 6 - 9)
- Young Adult (Grades 9 - 12)
- Picture Books for Older Readers (4th Grade and up)
Students must read all the nominated books in a category to be eligible to vote for their favorite. We'll be reading the nominated books for the Primary category to our children, while the Intermediate category-nominated books are available for check-out.
The votes are in!
